Effects of Human Rights Peace Picture Book Activities on Young Children's Empathy Ability and Ego Resilience

    Abstract

    The purpose of this study is to analyze the effects of human rights picture book picture activities on children's empathy ability and ego-resilience. The subjects of this study were 34 children (each 17) who were 5 years old and the experimental group and the control group were randomly assigned. It was developed human rights peace picture book activities using picture book and conducted pre-test. After 12 weeks, 12 times a week for 12 weeks, post-test was conducted and research data were collected. The effect of experimental treatment were analyzed through the collected data by t-test.
    The results showed that the empathy ability and ego-resilience score of the experimental group that performed the human rights peace education were significantly different from those of the comparative group. The results of this study showed that human rights peace picture book activities were effective in enhancing children 's empathy ability and ego-resilience. The implication of this study is that the value and attitude of human rights and peace acquired from infancy will lay the groundwork for growth as a member of society. Therefore, it is very important to educate human rights and peace that instills values and consciousness to empathize and consider others from infancy. Through this, young children will grow up to be able to realize a community life.
